#11 – Meditate Every Day

March 25, 2020 by Dad

The benefits of meditation are too vast to explain them in this post, but when you have time, read the book entitled Waking Up by Sam Harris to understand them.

For the longest time, I tried to meditate, but just couldn’t do it.  I have to much of an ‘action brain’ to be able to sit still, or at least, that’s what I thought.  You might think the same, but it’s not true. [Read more…]

COVID-19 Coronavirus Journal – 03.23.2020

March 24, 2020 by Dad

Roughly one week ago your school sent all of you home because of a global pandemic.  The COVID-10 Coronavirus outbreak has changed life as we know it. We now spend our days and nights together under the same roof.  We’ve managed to go out for walks and hikes on a regular basis but these are scary times.

It’s only been one week and we may need to quarantine for months, but I plan to journal it and offer some lessons learned.

#9 – Always hold yourself accountable in everything you do.

June 14, 2019 by Dad

The word accountable may be on of the most important in designing your life.  It is defined as (of a person, organization, or institution) required or expected to justify actions or decisions; responsible.

Here’s what it really means: You need to force yourself to build good habits OR ELSE you probably won’t.

Here are some examples… [Read more…]

#8 – The ideal situation for a dog.

June 14, 2019 by Dad

We had a dog, but for many reasons we had to re-home him when he was young.  You were all devastated and Mommy and I were so sad for you, but we didn’t have much of a choice based on the circumstances.  I spent the entire 5 months taking care of him (the dog) most of the time.  It was difficult and tiring but also enjoyable in some ways.  It was nice to see the joy the dog brought you, but there were times that you were frustrated with the dog or not interested in him too.

Over that period of time in reading about dogs, meeting other dogs, and owning a dog, I realized that dogs need three things to have an awesome life: [Read more…]
