#3 – You don’t really have to rush at anything.

March 19, 2017 by Dad

It seems in today’s world that everyone is always in a rush including me.  Sorry if I rushed you too much at times, but just know — you don’t have to rush anywhere.  Take your time.

I think creating deadlines for yourself can be healthy as doing so can really move you towards a goal, but often times, people do great work when they can take their time and really focus on the work.  If you want to be an author, an artist, a content creator, or anything, don’t rush your work.

There is an excellent book on this topic entitled Deep Work by Cal Newport.  I will add it to the list of MUST READ books that I am creating for you.  Don’t worry you can listen to the books if you don’t want to read them.

I’ll close this lesson with a great quote from an Alabama song (I know you don’t know who they are):

I’m in a hurry to get things done
Oh I rush and rush until life’s no fun
All I really gotta do is live and die
But I’m in a hurry and don’t know why.

Love,
Dad

Here is the book, I mentioned above:

Deep Work: Rules for Focused Success in a Distracted World
